about

Songs (to be) written and recorded for the National Solo Album Month challenge entirely during the month of November 2020. The album must be a minimum of 29 minutes and 9 seconds of original music. One cover song is allowed. The challenge is to create completely solo material without collaboration with others in either writing or playing of instruments. In keeping with the challenge, all of the songs were written during November 2020, all of the instruments are played by me, and I did all of the recording, mixing, etc.

This album is envisioned as part of a musical starring the three electric cars owned by my wife and I. The songs are in their anthromorphified personified voices. Our cars are Simone (a white/white/tan Smart fortwo ED cabrio), Louie (a blue/white/black Smart fortwo ED cabrio), and Henry (a white Ford Focus Electric). There also are cameos by Selpast (a fictional composite luxury electric car), stinky cousins (internal combustion engine or ICE versions of the Focus and fortwo) and the Fossil Fuel Religion Police (driving the largest possible ICE SUV). The Fossil Fuel Religion Police, as well as a number of song references, were inspired by writing prompts and writing sprints in the SWFL region of National Novel Writing Month, also in November 2020.
