Well me and Maslow took a trip, in a maglev car turned to a timeship
He wanted me to join his revolution, sing my songs of common redemption
I said “Hey wait, why’d you pick me? With all the great folksingers in history
Theres Bruce and Bob and Woody and Pete, even Bono brought more people to rally”
He said “All those writers could turn a rhyme, but the last one standing in my time
was you the one and only man in black and thats why I came to bring you back”
Maslow started the timeship with a whir, ‘cept we wound up on the other side of the universe
I guess we were some up in heaven in the year 2187.
Well Maslow he’s a pretty smart guy, did more calculatin’ so we could fly
all the way back in time, to Egypt B.C. 1499.
I said “Now where in the heavens are we goin’? I don’t understand a thing your screen is showin’”
He said “We’re goin’ to get the first female Pharoah, a futuremaker named Hetsupeth”
Turns out Hetsupeth needed an inventor and a bard, thought to myself “can’t be all that hard”
Sing old folk songs of the working man, songs of common redemption
Next I knew we were captured, the silver timeship is what they were after,
Left in the desert led through vineyards, time to learn about going inward.
Maslow and I were in jail for one night, left me with a lute and a light,
I sat down in the cell’s resonation, writing songs of common redemption.
I asked the guards name he said Tyzan, sang him songs of the working man,
Maslow and I passed our audition, with his inventions and my songs of common redemption.
Well the story goes on there’s lots to tell, autographs to sign and books to sell,
Here you can pre-order the next installation, in the series of books about songs of common redemption.
